He is survived by: his wife Diane Kay Avery; his children, Neal Trent Burkett III (Lorgenia), Erika Renee Matz (Thomas) and Erin Leigh Thomas; his grandchildren, Kayli McCathern (Taylor), Jacob Parsons (Casey), Caleb Parsons, Caleb Alford, Trenna Burkett, Joshua Parsons, Neal "Trent" Burkett IV, Adrianna Alford, Jordyn Parsons, Lily Thomas and Matthew Matz; and his siblings, Russell Avery (Maxine), Linda Gail Wilson and Dixie Alderson (Leroy). He is also survived by three great-grandchildren.
