He was predeceased by: his former wife Carolyn; his son Steven; his mother Martha Coontz; and his siblings, Gene, Tom Coontz, Catherine "Rosie" Barnhart, Juanita Coontz and Maureen McGraw.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara; his sons, James Embick Jr. (Jane) of Cuyahoga Falls and Michael Embick (Kimberly); his stepchildren, Mark Davis (Stephanie), James Davis, Cathy Siwierka (Bill) and Lisa Giaimo of Ravenna; and his brother Ray Coontz of Garrettsville. He is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
