He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Morrell Simmons and Betty Lee Gray. He is survived by: his wife Belma Simmons; his sons, Robert Simmons (Terrie), Chris Simmons (Sara), John Simmons (Andrea) and Danny Simmons; and his grandchildren, Cosette, Chloe, Mason, Lia, Tyler and Charlotte.
