He was predeceased by: his parents, Virginia Gardner and Elwood Patrick Patterson. He is survived by: his wife Mitsuko Knijo; and his children, Leonia, Cheryl and Donald. He is also survived by four sisters, one brother, four grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
