He was predeceased by: his parents, Reuben Ely and Ruth Amos Ely. He is survived by: his wife Sharon Brooks Ely; his children, Mimi J. Carey (Mike), Gary Allen Ely (Valerie), Rob T. Smith (Ashley), Shelly Ely Pearce (Eldon) and Amy Richardson (Adonis); and his sisters, Becky Cramer and Janet Ely. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, & 5 great great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 2nd 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Gentry-Morrison Funeral Homes - Southside Chapel (1727 Bartow Rd, Lakeland, FL 33801). A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 3rd 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Oak Hill Cemetery (4620 US Hwy 98 S, Lakeland, FL 33812).
