She was predeceased by: her parents, Horace Wood and Elizabeth Sneed Gibson; her husband Webster Benner, Jr. (Sonny); her siblings, William Gibson, Allyn Gibson, Earleen Field, Robert Gibson and Horace Gibson; her niece Daleyne Freeman; and her nephews, Douglas Gibson and Robert Gibson, II.

She is survived by: her son Vaughn Benner; her daughter-in-law Elizabeth Benner of Bryson City; her stepgrandchildren, Lara Park (Yunsu) and Nathaniel Falcon (Jackie); her great grandchildren, Brianna Falcon, Miranda Falcon, Ian Park and Felix Park; her brother Samuel Gibson; her nieces and nephews, Benjamin Gibson (Toni), Samuel Gibson, Jr. (Shirley), Joel Gibson, Elizabeth Chappell (Jesse) and Earleen Beadnell (Tom); and her cousins, Suzanne Nagy (Steven) and Joel McQuagge (Lisa). She is also survived by many great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.
