He was predeceased by: his parents, Blaine Garrard Bryant and Elvia Lucille Williams. He is survived by: his wife Patricia "Patti" A. Bryant of Hope Mills; his children, Major Ira W. Bryant Jr., Dina L. Brooks (Shane) of Hernando, Florida, Kimberly A. Bryant of Kapaa, Hawaii and Mira R. Kuni (Mike) of Helena, Montana; his adoptive son Shane L. Bryant of Sheridan, Wyoming; his daughter Heather Wild of Anchorage, Alaska; and his stepchildren, Wendy Stewart (Steve) of Murphy, Kristi Smith (James) of Hope Mills and Eddy Edwards (Cyndi) of Savannah, Texas.. He is also survived by many grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
