She was predeceased by: her parents, Cecil Bowen and Alma Bowen; her husband Charles Fred Barfield Jr.; and her grandson Joshua Blasingame. She is survived by: her children, Joy Elaine Spaulding (Tommy), Tony Barfield, Susan Marie Alderman and Richard Barfield (Barbra); and her grandchildren, Johnnie Chester McClelland Jr. (Carol), Sarah Paul, Kristen Smith, Tiah Sweet, Jesse Alderman, Richard Barfield Jr., Kimmie Weaver and Brooke Lanham. She is also survived by sixteen great-grandchildren, three sisters, one brother and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to running her church kitchen, teaching classes, baking and decorating cakes for all occasions, and heading up a charity, she was chairperson for the Strawberry Festival in Plant City.
