He was predeceased by: his parents, Alton Schmidt and Frances Schmidt; and his siblings, Doug Schmidt and Kathryn Schmidt Jerrell. He is survived by: his wife Cheryl; his children, Katie Schmidt of Wilmington, NC and Eric Schmidt; his daughter-in-law Johanna Miller of New York City; his sister Sandra Harris (Dave) of Bayside, WI; and his siblings-in-law, Tina Schmidt of Lakeland, FL, Susan Diskin of St. Augustine, FL, Richard John Nordby (Sela) of Mesa, AZ and Jim Kunburger of Marietta, GA. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and lifelong friends.
