He was predeceased by: his parents, Emma Jane Messer and James Roy Best; his wife Martha Jane Starling Best; and his siblings, James Roy Best (Catherine), Eudon Best, Carolyn Martin (Charles) and Ann Bracewell (Tom).
He is survived by: his children, Susan and Kevin; his daughter-in-law Kathy; his grandchildren, Wyatt, Shelby and Emma; and his siblings, John Best (Thelma) of Lakeland and Betty Cox (late Donnell) of Colquitt, Georgia..
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to the Florida Baptist Children's Home in Lakeland, Florida.
