She was predeceased by: her parents, James Mayer and Mitsuko Mayer; her in-laws, Jack and Phyllis Whitis; her brother Peter Mayer; and her brother-in-law William.

She is survived by: her husband Jack Whitis of Leesburg, FL; her children, Jenn Cooper (Jeff) of Fredericksburg, VA and Sean Whitis (Heather) of Herndon, VA; her brothers, Jimmy Mayer (Maureen) of Lorton, VA and Leo Mayer (Vickie) of Woodbridge, VA; and her grandchildren, Jeremy, Josh Cooper, Kathryn, Jack and Sean Whitis. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
