He was predeceased by: his parents, F. Raymond Oakes and Gertrude E. Oakes (Waite); his wife Doris Ann Lapple Oakes; and his siblings, John Oakes and Nancy Butters.
He is survived by: his children, Kimberley Bennett (Larry) and Douglas Oakes (Rebecca); and his grandchildren, Heather Potter, Amy Ganzer, Adrian Bennett, Leroy Oakes, Jeremiah Douglas Oakes, John Winters, Sarah Loomis and Danielle Woods. He is also survived by great grandchildren and several loving nieces and nephews.
