He was predeceased by: his parents, McKendree Whitney and Ruth Whitney (Jepson); and his siblings, David Whitney, June Lapham and Marilyn Pease.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Ann Whitney (Mingolla); and his son McKendree James Whitney Jr.. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
