She was predeceased by: her husband James B. "Jim Brack" Simmons. She is survived by: her children, Michael Simmons (Karen), Braxton Simmons (Heidi) and Martha Oddo (Dan); her grandchildren, J. D. Oddo (Katie), Jenna Oddo, Jillian Oddo, Cierra Schandera (Will), Delaney Simmons (Jason), Eli Simmons, MaKensie Simmons and Hanna Simmons; her great grandchildren, Lynnde Oddo and Roman Schandera; and her sisters, Edith Penia, Merle Spurlock and LaVerne Rainey (Herman). She is also survived by nieces, nephews, extended family members, and countless dear friends.

As a past president of the Brandon chapter of the American Cancer Society, she helped bring Relay For Life to eastern Hillsborough County and played an instrumental role in advancing smoke-free workplaces throughout Florida.
