She was predeceased by: her parents, Leonard C. Hicks and Gladys Sevor Hicks; her husbands, David Simmons Jr. of Monticello and Jim Smith; her grandson Blake Simmons; her brother Delbert Hicks; and her sister-in-law Charlotte Hicks.
She is survived by: her son David A. Simmons; her grandson Trevor Simmons; her brother Sherrill Hicks (Luci); her sister-in-law Linda Hicks; and her aunt Virginia Wynn. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
