Maynard Reed Shope Obituary

We announce the death of Maynard Reed Shope of Melbourne, Florida, who passed away on September 18, 2026, at the age of 98. Maynard will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his parents, Perry Shope and Mable Honneycutt (Robert Honeycutt); his sisters, Gertrude Coon (Harold), Jean Gezymalla (John), Loye VanGorder (Skip) and Helen Shirey (Ed); and his daughter Melanie Lynn Shope.

He is survived by: his wife Doris; and his children, Beverly Frischkorn (Jeff) of Mentor, OH, Debby Ladlee of Melbourne, FL, Reed Shope (Annette) of Burke, VA, Joy Alexander (Bob) of Midland, TX, Faith Shope of Mentor, OH and Annette Lebby (Steve) of Powhatan, VA.. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and many honorary grandchildren, friends, neighbors.

The family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Bud's honor to VITAS Hospice at 4450 Eau Gallie Blvd Ste 250, Melbourne, FL 32934.
