He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert Gehlken and Eleanor Gehlken; and his wife Jean. He is survived by: his children, Robert Gehlken II and Krista Gehlken-Butts (Rob); and his grandchildren, Rachel (Josh) and LeeAnne (Sean). He is also survived by his great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
