“My second memory was virtual, when I upgraded the Hines Industries website in 2008. I was struck by the visual attractiveness and many features given Mike developed it ~1990 — a modern menu, photos, a customer form to request information, technical articles that he authored with Gordon Hines that brought in a lot of web traffic. I left the website unchanged, just updating technologies. Once again, I marveled at Mike’s creativity and broad range of abilities. The world has lost an amazing engineer.”

“Very sorry to hear about your loss. I have two memories of Mike to share. The first was in-person, I was about 10. My dad (Gordon Hines) took me to Mike’s place to see his “toy train” (HO scale?) — an accurately scaled version of an actual train service (can’t remember which) that ran around the entire perimeter of his apartment. He had even cut through walls. It was amazing. Mike shared many details about the construction with my Dad and I; what a creative and detailed-oriented individual!”
