He was predeceased by: his parents, Avelino Cortizo and Francisca Cortizo. He is survived by: his wife Tita Cortizo; his children, Iliana Portela, Leticia Cortizo-Caro and Miguel Jr. Cortizo; and his grandchildren, Nickolas Cortizo, Christopher Portela, Victoria Portela, Jacob Caro and Dylan Caro.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, September 23rd 2026 from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM at the Vista Funeral Home (5755 NW 142nd St, Miami Lakes, FL 33014). A burial was held on Thursday, September 24th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the Vista Memorial Gardens (14200 NW 57th Ave, Miami Lakes, FL 33014).
