John Winston Moore Obituary

MOORE, John Winston, age 71, Miami Dade resident his entire life, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2026. He was welcomed into heaven by his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and is celebrating with his parents Beverly and Jerry, his son Gregory and many other relatives and friends. Loving husband to Kelly Moore, amazing father to Mike (Katie), Gregory (passed 2017), and Kinsey (Jonathan) Simmons. He is also survived by his wonderful grandchildren Caleb and Joshua Moore in Buford, GA and Kiley, Jackson, and Sunny Simmons in Palmetto Bay, FL.

John was born at Mercy Hospital in Miami, Florida on December 7, 1954, and graduated from Miami Palmetto Senior High School in 1973. John worked with his father Jerry Moore and brother Jeff at Moore and Sons, selling tennis rackets, etc. in the late 1970s. John taught tennis with his father Jerry at King's Courts Tennis Club on First Baptist Church of Perrine (now Christ Fellowship) property between 1980 to 2007. John worked as the Palmetto Bay Facilities Manager at Christ Fellowship from 2007 through 2025.

John married the love of his life, Kelly (nee Duncan) at Kendall Presbyterian Church on March 19, 1983. A man of God, John sang in the choir and "Jezreel" group at Kendall Presbyterian Church and the choir and "A Few Good Men" group at First Baptist Church of Perrine. Like his father, John loved sharing his faith with others and memorizing Bible scripture verses.

John loved all of God's creation and was an avid outdoorsman. He was a master water-skier, barefoot water-skier, wakeboarder, lobsterman, fisherman, spearfisherman, and Stone Crab catcher in the Atlantic Ocean, and he loved to teach others how to do all of it. John also treasured his 1971 Cuda Craft boat that he retrofitted with a custom center console, extended motor transom for a larger motor and storage space for lobstering/fishing or family trips. He loved taking family members on fun excursions from Matheson Hammock or Black Point Marina to Elliott Key/Sands Cut Sandbar, Key Biscayne, Gables Estates, downtown Miami, etc. The entire family has amazing memories of John taking them out on his amazing boat.

A Celebration of Life will take place at 6pm on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at Christ Fellowship Church, 8900 SW 168th Street, Palmetto Bay, FL 33157 where he served for nineteen years.
