With heavy hearts, we announce the death of LeRoy Bruce Gowens of Miami, Florida, born in Norton, Kansas, who passed away on June 1, 2025 at the age of 81. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Aaron Gowens and Ida Gowens; and his son Russell Gowens. He is survived by: his sons, Jody Gowens (Tabatha) of Joplin, MO, Jason Gowens of Tulsa, OK and Nicholas Selby (Andrea) of Southwest City, MO; his grandchildren, Aaron Gowens, Matthew Gowens, Rusty Gowens, Alyssa Gowens, Reagan Gowens, Larry Selby, Jacob Selby and Gabriel Selby; and his siblings, Lorinda Thomas, Leanna Baker (Danny) and Leon Gowens (Debbie).
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 5th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Derfelt Funeral Home - Galena (1116 S Main St, Galena, KS 66739). A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 6th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
