She was predeceased by: her parents, Vinson Ates and Minnie Cooley Ates; her husband James Allen Barnes, Sr.; and her son James Allen Barnes, Jr.. She is survived by: her daughter Lisa Barnes Locklin (Burt); her grandchildren, Dane Locklin, McCalla Locklin and Suzy Barnes; and her siblings, Curtis "Buddy" Ates (Carolyn), Colvin Ates (Elaine) and Johannah Phillips. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
