“Colonel Ian "Scotty" Brennan was my Battalion Executive Officer in 3rd Bn 9th Marines from 1981 - 1982. He was a legend in my opinion. A man of core convictions; unbending expectations to hold firmly onto the legacy of our Corps in Conduct, Proficiency, and Fidelity. He was responsible for selecting me to become the 81 mm Mortar Platoon Commander for the Battalion. He was at the helm and his presence was felt throughout the command. We reunited at Quantico.
