He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Theodore and Lillie Bell Prentice Gaynor; his siblings, Edward, Theodore, Reuben, Lillian and Larry Jay; his children, Georgia, Norris Jay and Jerome George Gaynor; and his granddaughter Valacia Gaynor.

He is survived by: his sister Bettie Gaynor Benjamin (William) of Washington, D. C.; his wife Georgia Gaynor; his children, Simone Gaynor Crawley and Gary Russell Gaynor; and his grandsons, Brandon James Manning (Johnnjalyn), Jason Edward Manning (Rena) and Charles Phillip Moon. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 15th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. John Divine Missionary Baptist Church (5363 St John's St, Milton, FL 32583). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 15th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
