She was predeceased by: her parents, Ronald Heichelbech and Barbara Wells. She is survived by: her children, Keisha Wright Mertens (Mike), Darrius Heichelbech (Storey), Eric Heichelbech, Joseph Robinson and Brittany Hall; her grandchildren, Silas Heichelbech (Pumpkin) and Kobyn Mertens (Peanut); her pet Rocket; her former husband Eddie Robinson; her stepmother Jeanette Heichelbech; and her brothers, Ronnie Joe Heichelbech (Melissa), Steve Heichelbech (Holly) and Brad Heichelbech (Megan). She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations in memory of Debra Newson to Cathedral of Saint Dismas Church at the Orlando Bridge.
