He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl William Velzy and Evelyn Velzy (Wardell); and his siblings, Jim, Jack Velzy, Joni Benson (Rick) and Jeff Velzy (Laura).
He is survived by: his wife Barbara Ann Velzy (Hutton); his children, Ryan Velzy (Mandy Friedenberg) and Tim Velzy (Lateesha); and his grandsons, Benjamin, Zachary Velzy, Logan and Liam Velzy.
