He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Stapleton and Otelia Stapleton; his wife Kathy; his siblings, Tom Stapleton, Mary Socia (Oscar), Carol Jean Stapleton and Yvonne Stapleton; and his brothers-in-law, James Loynd, Oscar Socia, Gerald Coogan and James Coogan.
He is survived by: his sons, John Jr. (Allyson) of Birmingham, MI, Steven (Laura) of Indianapolis, IN and Michael (Jennifer) of Cincinnati, OH; his grandchildren, JP (John Patrick III), Bryan, Logan, Owen, Anna and Ryan; his sisters, Joyce Loynd and Alyce Hallman (Larry); and his sisters-in-law, Diana Coogan, Kathy Coogan and Eileen Stapleton.
