Reid Edward Wolf Obituary

Reid Edward Wolf, 87, passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 12, 2021. Reid resided with his wife of 65 years, Mercedes ‘Tookie’ Wolf in Naples, Florida, where they retired to in 1996 after residing in Windsor, Connecticut for over 30 years.

Reid was born in Pittsburgh, PA on November 14, 1933, and predeceased by his parents, Frank and Leona (Thompson) Wolf, and siblings Frank ‘Jack’ Wolf and Anabelle (Wolf) Balistreri.

Reid met and married the love of his life, Mercedes ‘Tookie’ (Layton) Wolf in Pittsburgh on August 29, 1955, raising six children. Reid loved his children and their respective spouses, including: Brian and his wife Maureen (Newbury, Plum Island, MA); Kevin (Salem, MA); Keith and his wife Karen (Windsor, CT and Newport, RI); Lynn (Wolf) Ricard of Windsor, CT; and Lee and his wife Diane (Salem, MA). Reid is predeceased by his eldest son, Dennis, and Lynn’s loving husband Roger Ricard.

Reid also loved his Grandchildren and Great-grand child: Brendan Wolf and his wife Abigail, and their son, Reid’s namesake, Reid Pierce Wolf (South Glastonbury, CT); Connor Wolf (Arlington, VA); Katherine Wolf (New York, NY); Aidan Wolf (Newbury, MA); and Jennifer Wolf (Windsor, CT).
Reid graduated Dormont High School in 1951 and Pittsburgh University (PITT) in 1955 with his degree in Nuclear Physics. Reid spent most of his career with Combustion Engineering (Windsor, CT), from 1964 until his retirement in 1995.

Reid’s Windsor life was full, with the best group of friends and neighbors, which he treasured. They were ever-present in his life and wrapped around family, golf, The Lions Club, The Elks Club, and so much more. Reid especially enjoyed the Hartford Whalers, Steelers, Pirates and back to the Penguins upon the Whalers’ departure. His love of family, friends and golf continued during his time in Naples, where he also served as an officer in their condo association and was a member of the Quail Run Golf Club for many years.

Reid is much-loved by his wife, family and friends and will be terribly missed. Thank you to everyone who has reached out with their thoughts, prayers and condolences.
