He was predeceased by: his parents, Steele Fuller Stewart, Sr. and Ruth Sawyer Stewart; his stepmother Una Appleby Stewart; and his sisters, Sally S. Rogers (Stephen J. Rogers) and Carol S. Dole (Kenneth V. Dole).

He is survived by: his wife Rev. Nancy Peterson Stewart; his children, Steele Roger Stewart (Ciloue Cheng Stewart), Eric Peterson Stewart (Holly Coward Stewart) and Heather Stewart Hull (Steve Hull); his grandchildren, Andrew Stewart, Dillon Stewart, Steele A. Stewart, Shelby Stewart, Mary Catherine Stewart, Heidi Hull, Juliette Stewart, Stephen Hull and Nancy Hull; and his friend Nancy.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be made through contributions to Moorings Presbyterian Church.
