Michael Tullo Obituary
Michael Anthony Tullo of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, sadly passed away on the evening of Sunday, March 5th at Advent Medical Center in Altamonte Springs, Florida. He was 78 years of age.
Michael was bravely battling a long series of health issues, being optimistically and lovingly supported by his spouse Karen and many other family and friends. His final days were difficult but also filled with great care and love.
Michael was born on June 18, 1944 in Paterson, NJ. He was the first of two sons born to Jeanne and Joseph Tullo.
Michael attended public schools in Paterson and upon his graduation from Paterson Technical and Vocational High School, joined the United States Marine Corps. Michael served his country with great honor and was stationed in Da Nang, Vietnam for one and a half years. Upon receiving his honorable discharge from the United States Marines, he secured a Master's Degree in Business and Distributive Education from Montclair University, Montclair, NJ. Michael started his career as a high school teacher and eventually became a school district Business Administrator before retiring and relocating to Port Orange and later to New Smyrna Beach, Florida with his spouse Karen.
Growing up, Michael enjoyed many activities and hobbies such as swimming, water skiing, snow skiing, drum and bugle corps, automobile refurbishment, marksmanship and of course football. Later in life he rode several different models of Harley-Davidson motorcycles from coast to coast, often times with Karen on the back. He was also a dog lover and rescued several dogs, especially Greyhounds who knew they were loved in their new environment. He learned to love cats as well.
Michael also treated his family to many wonderful Italian dishes that were handed down from his parents.
Additionally, Michael loved his grandchildren whom of which he was very proud. All three of them are accomplished scholars and excel in just about every sport there is. Football- yes.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Jeanne Louise and Joseph Carl Tullo.
Michael is survived by his loving spouse Karen who were married for eighteen wonderful years, two step-children, Carlyn and Christopher as well as two step-grandchildren.
Michael is also survived by his daughter Tracy and her husband Richard Reid and three loving grandchildren, his spouse's immediate family, his brother Roger and many cousins and friends who will greatly miss him.
A service will be held for Michael at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Daytona Beach, Florida at on Friday, April 21, 2023. The 11:00 mass will be followed by a reception and celebration of Michael's life.
