He was predeceased by: his wife Dorothy Jean Ellis Helms; his daughter Pamela Williams; and his granddaughter Cassidy Jade. He is survived by: his children, Patricia Snyder (Bill), Rick Helms (Laurie) and Dawn Crum (James); his grandchildren, Shannon, Chip, Sabrina, Krystal, Jaime, Colby, Camryn, Cenedy, Cannon, Brenda and Teresa; and his brother Morris Helms.
