With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Douglas Richard Burgess of Niceville, Florida, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on January 16, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
In the vast expanse of eternity, Douglas shall find rest, cradled in the arms of everlasting peace. And as we bid Douglas farewell, his loved ones carry with them the precious gift of his memory, a beacon of hope guiding them through the shadows of sorrow towards the light of a new dawn.
He is survived by: his children, Doug Burgess (LouAnn) and Sandy Simms (John); his grandchildren, Douglas Burgess III, Alyssa Gustafson (Robert), Kristin Burgess (Porter), Anna Simms and Jack Simms; and his great grandchildren, Cameron Gustafson and Rose Gustafson.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to American Heart Association in Doug's honor.
