With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Jessie Dwayne Powell of Nokomis, Florida, born in Charleston, South Carolina, who passed away on April 29, 2024 at the age of 79. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by : his parents, Jessie Powell and Janie David Powell; his siblings, Freddie Roland Powell and Cecelia Beasley; his former life partner Betty Sue Kirby Powell; his wife Connie Lee Powell; and his daughter-in-law Shamim Powell.

He is survived by : his children, Dwayne Powell of Pensacola, FL, Christopher Powell (Michelle) of Milton, FL and Melissa Powell of Pensacola, FL; his stepchildren, Lee Delmar of Walnut Hill, FL, Mark Delmar (Sharon) of Atmore, AL, Suzanne Delmar Fordham (James) of Huntsville, AL and Samantha Delmar Hubbard (Todd) of Nokomis, AL; and his sisters, Barbara Ann Surette and Elizabeth Jackson (Libby). He is also survived by nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Friday, May 3rd 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home (1322 S Main St, Atmore, AL 36502). A funeral service was held on Friday, May 3rd 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Monday, May 6th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Barrancas National Cemetery (1 Cemetery Rd, Pensacola, FL 32508).

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
