He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Claerhout and Antoinette Claerhout; and his friend William Schneider. He is survived by: his wife Roxanne; his sons, Patrick and Troy (Hali Driem); his grandchildren, Ethan, Roman and Penelope; his siblings, Charles (Andrea) and Melanie; and his former wife Katherine Murphy. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.
