He was predeceased by: his parents, Lee W. Chaney, Sr. and Mae Chaney (Eichelmann); and his son Russell Chaney. He is survived by: his wife Carol Chaney (Szmidt); his son Michael Chaney (Laura) of Covington, KY; and his siblings, John Chaney (Julia) of Springfield, OH and Barbara Garrety (Michael) of Ft. Mill, SC.. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 4 step-great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, and Cousins.
