He was predeceased by: his mother Shirlee Schutte; and his brothers, Stephen and William "Loy". He is survived by: his siblings, Janice Stewart (Derek), Joel Samuels (Valerie), Claudia Samuels and Kristi Samuels. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins.
