He was predeceased by: his father Rev. Joseph Simpson "Sim"; his children, Janie Sue Bowers and Joe Bowers; and his siblings, Pauline, Irene, Christine Bowers, George Bowers, Andy Bowers, Rosabelle B. Pickelsimer, Almarie B. Wells, Edith B. Gilreath, Bill Bowers and Ralph Bowers.
He is survived by: his wife Helen Stanley Bowers; his children, David Bowers and Brenda Arnold; his grandchildren, Tammy Burger, Paul Rich, Jeremiah Bowers, Isaac Bowers and Rochelle Bowers; his great grandchildren, Michael Jones, Jonathan Jones, Jacob Queen, Cade Burton and Lily Rich; and his great great grandchildren, Hayden Jones, Lyla-Faye Jones and Michael Bowers. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
