He was predeceased by: his parents, Vernon L. Simmons, Sr. and Castella; and his siblings, Willie Simmons and Carolyn Jacobs. He is survived by: his wife Claire Simmons; his children, Vernon Simmons, III (Lina), Sabrina Dean (James), Saprina Pollock (Austin) and Veronica Bailey (Nick); and his brothers, Charles Stevenson (Pamela), Robert Simmons and Johnny Drayton. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren, best friend, "Red Cat"; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
