He was predeceased by: his parents, Leo Johnson and Erie Haney Johnson; his sons, Robert M. Thorpe and Brian Johnson; and his siblings, Chester Johnson and Nadine Brumbelow.
He is survived by: his wife Vicky Thorpe Johnson; his children, Vernon Johnson, Sean Johnson, Coleen and Keri Rash; and his brother Charles Johnson. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
