He was predeceased by: his parents, José Then and María M. Vásquez; and his brothers, Rafael Vásquez and Sósimo Vásquez. He is survived by: his wife Elena Vásquez; his son José D. Vásquez (Malisa); and his siblings, Fernando E. Vásquez, Diógenes Vásquez, Gilda Then, Maritza Mejía, Carmen Then, Eddie J. Then, Noel Then and Magalys Then. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren.
