He is survived by: his child Aliyah N. Avery; his father John Avery; his stepmother Evelyn Avery; his mother Sonya Smith; his stepfather Carlos Smith; his siblings, Cardale Bowens, Sarah A. Horsford (Alvin Horsford), Calvina Bostick and JoAnn Reed Avery; his grandmothers, Vera Y. Carter (Joseph Carter) and Carolyn J. Howard; and his aunts and uncles, Helen Bass, Alicia Johnson, James Avery, Terry Avery, Nolan Avery, William H. Howard, Jr. and Heidi Haye. He is also survived by cousins, great uncles and aunts.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting college contributions for Aaron's only child to be sent directly to the investment account once it is opened.
