He was predeceased by: his parents, Delmar Freeman Hess Jr. and Barbara Grace Casto Hess; his niece Emma Grace Hess; and his brother David Hess (Connie). He is survived by: his wife Rebecca Kay Marteney; his grandchildren, Lucas (Carrie), Julian, Matthew (Krysta), Emily and Ethan; and his siblings, Becky Hess Whitlatch (David) of Belpre, Jeannie Hess Pickens (Marvin) of Washington, Robert Hess (Christine) of Belpre and Fran Hess (Steve) of Belpre, Ohio..
