He was predeceased by: his parents, José Domingo Layrisse Marrero and Carmen Díaz Brizuela. He is survived by: his wife Clara Luisa Fernández Boccalandro; his children, Alberto, María Gabriela and Álvaro; his daughters-in-law, Donna Ditman and Ashley Johnson; his grandchildren, Stella Shipp, Gabriela Alexander, Nicholas Layrisse, Alexandra Layrisse, Dominic Layrisse and Matías Layrisse; his great grandchild Lilah Shipp; and his brother Alfredo Layrisse. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, and many dear friends.
For many years, he courageously battled lymphoma and, later, Parkinson's disease, facing both with remarkable strength, dignity, and grace.
