She was predeceased by: her parents, Frank Kompass and Margaret Kompass; her sister Barbara Anderson; and her son-in-law David Hafele. She is survived by: her husband Joseph Howard; her children, Cathy Hafele, James Howard (Carol) and Susan Foy (Barry); and her grandchildren, Joshua Hafele (Tazhi) and Jaimee Hafele (Rhett Eubanks).
