He was predeceased by: his parents, Ephrem Melvin and Ruth Barnes Melvin; his wife JoAnn Bell Melvin; his grandson Nicholas Melvin; and his siblings, Dora Lee Skinner, H. M. Melvin, Viney Mae Cauley, Gladys Benton, Joe Melvin, Oby Melvin, Elizabeth Lowery, Cleo Melvin and Junior Melvin.

He is survived by: his children, Yancy Clay Melvin (Brenda), Gregory Melvin and Tina Colucci (Joe); his grandchildren, Brandi Melvin, Shawn Melvin, Alexandria Cook (Austin), Allison Flanigan (Josh), Alyssa Ward (James) and Schea Melvin; and his great grandchildren, Alaya, Dallas, Arliss, Dolli Jo, Foster, Josie, Madalyn, Gavin, Ethan, Ada, Wylen and Bradi. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 7th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Lewis Funeral Home Pace Chapel (4777 W Spencer Field Rd, Pace, FL 32571). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 7th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
