He was predeceased by: his parents, Anthony DeWalt and Gladys DeWalt (Wertz); his wife Helen Dowling; and his grandson Chris Kavanaugh. He is survived by: his daughters, Diane Thomas (Tim) of Palm Bay and Jackie Wilhelmi (Terry) of Elwood, Illinois; his grandchildren, Amber Ingram of Portland, Tim Wilhelmi (Christine) of Martinton, Eric Wilhelmi of Symerton and Ryan Wilhelmi (Melissa) of Elwood; his great grandchildren, Alexis Ingram, Bradley Ingram, Avery Wilhelmi and Isaac Wilhelmi; and his siblings, Tom DeWalt of Kewanee, Gary DeWalt (Lenora) of Oakdale and Katherine Hurd of Pekin, Illinois..
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 13th 2026 from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the Baskerville Funeral Home (700 W Kahler Rd, Wilmington, IL 60481). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 13th 2026 from 11:30 AM to 12:15 PM at the same location. The military honors will be held on Tuesday, October 13th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery (20953 W Hoff Rd, Elwood, IL 60421).
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Jack's memory to the Will County Humane Society.
