He was predeceased by: his mother Elizabeth ShelhamerSoles. He is survived by: his wife Judy; his sons, Robert (Kaitlyn), Chris (Kayleen) and Brian (Hayley); his grandchildren, Emily, Lindsey, Layla, Andrew and Michaela; and his brother Keith DeVault (Janet).

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Legion, Wounded Warrior Project, or Police Athletic League.
