He was predeceased by : his uncle Marvin Bates, Jr.; and his aunt Lin Chilcoat. He is survived by : his parents, Woody Chilcoat (Sharon) of Moneta and Martha Donald (Alan) of Palm Coast, FL.; his aunts and uncles, Elaine Bates, Ruth Ann Bates, Jennifer Bates, Jerry Bates, Mark Chilcoat (Yvonne) and Terry Chilcoat (Judy); and his cousins, Amy Morgan, Shannon Chilcoat, DeWayne Bates, Shirley Bates, Jay Bates, Jerry Bates, Jr., Shawn Bates, Lee Bates, Kevin Waddle, Michael Showalter, Kristi Glahn and Allison Blair.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 10th 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Chapel of Ford-Stewart Funeral Home (2047 GA-138, Jonesboro, GA 30236). A memorial service was held on Wednesday, April 10th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
