He was predeceased by: his parents, Leland Getty and Ruth Getty of Burlington, Vermont.. He is survived by: his significant other Darlene Coryea; his children, Amanda Benedict and Michael Getty; the mother of his children Kathy Getty; his children, Melissa Robson and Kellen Robson; his grandchildren, Cora, Charlie Benedict, Charlotte and Kieran Robson; and his brothers, Richard (Janet Getty), Eric, Dayna Olson-Getty and Matthew (Holly Getty).

“I am so shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of Hal. My brothers and I grew up with Hal at the First Baptist Church in Burlington, VT. He was active in all aspects of church life, along with his brother and parents. He was always friendly to me. Had a wonderful smile each time we’d cross paths in later years. He reffed basketball for my daughter’s high school team and once again, would find us in the stands and share his wonderful smile. I am very sorry for his family and friends.”
