He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Stearns and Edna Stearns; and his siblings, Florence Toohey, Harry and James Stearns.

He is survived by: his wife Rose Peterson Stearns; his daughter Rose Leto (Vincent Leto); his grandchildren, Katherine "Katie" Whited (Jerry) and William "Will" Leto (Emily); and his great grandchildren, Logan and Emma Whited.
